Statistics show that more than 80% of consumers decide to buy a product after reading reviews.
- Tendency to Compare Prices: Online platforms make it easy to compare the prices of the same product across multiple websites or apps. Consumers now check prices on various platforms to get the best deal. This allows them to not only get good quality products but also the opportunity to buy them at a lower price.
- Impact of Social Commerce: Social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook are no longer just for communication; they are now major retail hubs. Many small businesses are selling their products directly on social media, a trend known as social commerce. Here, customers buy products by directly interacting with sellers through product photos, videos, and live sessions.
- Prevalence of Mobile Shopping: The widespread availability of smartphones and the increase in mobile internet usage have made online shopping even more accessible. The majority of consumers are now shopping using mobile apps or browsers instead of desktops. This trend of mobile-based shopping is expected to grow even more in the future.
- Concerns Over Product Authenticity and Delivery: While online shopping offers many benefits, it also comes with some risks. Consumers have concerns about product quality, the delivery of counterfeit goods, and late deliveries. As a result, most buyers now emphasize Cash-on-Delivery (COD) and easy return policies.
Online shopping is not just a trend; it has become an integral part of how people in Bangladesh shop. E-commerce companies are adapting to this change and adopting new strategies to gain consumer trust. This trend is expected to strengthen in the future, with consumers becoming more dependent on digital platforms for their shopping needs, thereby creating new opportunities for the country’s economy.
